The Food Bank of York Region counts on the help of our volunteers to meet the need of our hunger relief efforts. We have the food our communities need, but it takes hands-on help to deliver it to our neighbours experiencing food insecurity. Our volunteers’ involvement is crucial to the success of our food program. A special thank you to all our amazing volunteers!
Our Volunteer Program always has ongoing shifts available in our warehouse for hands-on-help to sort and pack our incoming and outgoing donations.
Volunteer shifts available are typically scheduled Monday to Friday at 8:00am-11:00am and 11:30am to 2:30pm. Once you signup to volunteer, you will have access to our online scheduler to select a shift at your convenience.
From time-to-time we require office assistance with program and inventory data entry, general reception and administration.
We also occasionally need on-site assistance for small events, such as food drives hosted by third parties. Volunteers collect non-perishable food items, encourage people to donate, and provide promotional materials. Some set- up is required.
These opportunities will be emailed to all volunteers and posted in the breakroom as they become available.
Our Virtual Volunteer team is focused on FBYR’s online and peer-to-peer fundraising efforts. If you have a love for fundraising and are great with social media, this may be a great fit for you!
