Since 2021, numerous studies and reports have been sounding the alarm regarding the rise of food insecurity in Ontario, warning that the rising food prices and housing costs combined with inadequate income are creating a perfect storm.

 

The Food Bank of York Region’s 2024 Report on Food Insecurity provides an analysis of the growth of food insecurity in the Region and the people impacted. Nearly 30 percent of food bank visitors in 2024 were children.
