Horace has a strong commitment to social development. In the past 5 years this had its focus in helping to alleviate food insecurity in York Region by serving on the Board of The Food Bank of York Region. In the 14 years before retirement worked for the Regional Municipality of York in community Investments, having played a key role in establishing the York Region Community Investment Strategy.
Before coming to Canada Horace spent many years in International Development, working with the United Nations Development Program and the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), contributing to national and Caribbean development. He also served the not-for-profit sector in Guyana as a member of the Guyana National Board of the Inter-School/Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship, during which time he also served as its National Board Chairman. Horace sees his current involvement with The Food Bank of York Region as an opportunity to continue contributing to programs and activities that address issues of poverty and community
development.
