People in our community struggle daily with food insecurity, and 33% of the people serviced are children. Seniors on dwindling incomes, low income families, and people with disabilities need our support. With your help, we can bridge the gap to overcome hunger in our region. Together we can make a difference.
Our Unionville High School Health and Nutrition classes have started an initiative called UHS Feed The Need, in which we have teamed up with The Food Bank of York Region (FBYR) in order to help support the issue of food insecurity during COVID-19. Our goal is to spread awareness and do our part in helping out with this issue in our local community! During the state of emergency in York Region, food insecurity has spiked, seeing a 50 % increase in first-time food bank users. Now, more than ever the need to donate is essential to help our fellow citizens.
Our goal is to raise $2000 through donations with our school and community throughout the month of May. With your support, we can make a difference in our community.
